Vestdavit played a key role in enhancing operational readiness for the Norwegian Coast Guard’s new class of polar patrol vessels, constructed at the Vard Langsten shipyard in Norway. Understanding the demanding operational requirements of Arctic and sub-Arctic missions, Vestdavit delivered a tailored set of three launch and recovery systems per vessel including one TDB-10000L and two PLR-5003KV davits. These systems were custom-engineered to meet the Coast Guard’s stringent requirement for 330-day operational availability per year, functioning reliably in harsh conditions, including sea states up to level 5 and extreme temperatures as low as -25°C. Their durability and performance reflect Vestdavit’s ability to deliver reliable solutions in some of the world’s most demanding maritime environments.
In addition to the davit systems, Vestdavit further enhanced vessel functionality by designing and delivering a wagon-based boat transfer system, based on its patented MissionEase technology. This system enables the efficient movement and storage of two boats within the mission bay, optimizing space and allowing for safer and quicker operations during launch and recovery. To further support these operations, painter booms were also included, offering added control and safety when handling boats in heavy seas. Altogether, Vestdavit’s comprehensive solution equips the Norwegian Coast Guard with robust, Arctic-ready capabilities that maximize safety, versatility, and uptime during year-round missions.
