Vestdavit delivered two advanced dual TDB-7000 davit systems to the USS John L. Canley (ESB-6), a newly commissioned Expeditionary Sea Base ship built by General Dynamics NASSCO. These overhead telescopic dual-point davits are designed to replace traditional cranes, offering significantly improved performance in launching and recovering boats in high sea states. Each davit is capable of handling multiple types of craft, including 7-meter and 11-meter RHIBs and the Combatant Craft Assault (CCA), with a safe working load of up to 14,000 kg. The systems are hydraulically operated and feature motion compensation, constant tension winches, and anti-pendulation guide arms to ensure safe and stable operations even in rough conditions
To ensure optimal use of the TDB-7000 systems, Vestdavit conducted comprehensive training for the USS John L. Canley crew at the San Diego naval base. The training included classroom instruction, hands-on pierside exercises, and real-world simulations at sea, allowing crew members to become proficient in operating the davits under various conditions. The systems are designed to be user-friendly, with remote control operation and automated features like self-leveling winches. This delivery and training package reflects Vestdavit’s commitment to supporting naval readiness and safety, empowering crews with the tools and knowledge needed for effective mission-critical boat handling.
